The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside the country following an intensive and eventful first year in office.
The vacation is aimed at providing the national chairman an opportunity to rest, rejuvenate and reflect after months of extensive party engagements, consultations, travels and strategic activities across the country.
Since assuming office in July 2025, Yilwatda has worked closely with the National Working Committee (NWC), governors, National Assembly members, state party structures, elected officials and other stakeholders to strengthen the APC.
Under his leadership, the party successfully organised and concluded its National Convention and conducted primary elections at various levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, said the achievements had further consolidated the APC’s position as Nigeria’s leading political party.
It added that the vacation was not a disengagement from party affairs but a brief period for the chairman to recharge and reflect on the responsibilities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Yilwatda is also expected to use the period to reflect on the next phase of the party’s development and put finishing touches to plans for the forthcoming NWC retreat.
According to the statement, the retreat will provide an opportunity for the NWC to review the party’s progress, identify emerging challenges and develop strategies for the months ahead.
The APC said the chairman’s absence from the country would not affect the operations of the party, as the NWC would continue to discharge its responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution and established procedures.
Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the two-week vacation and resume his official engagements with renewed energy and focus.
