Morene Ventures Limited has successfully concluded its IDEAS-TVET closing ceremony and graduated 100 artisans trained in Painting, Decoration and Finishes, Welding and Fabrication, as well as Electrical Installation and Maintenance.

The six-month intensive skills development programme ended with the presentation of participation certificates to the graduands, while successful trainees await the issuance of their National Skills Qualification (NSQ) Level 2 certificates.

The ceremony brought together government officials, industry experts, assessors, facilitators, community leaders, and family members to celebrate the graduates’ successful completion of the programme.

A major highlight of the event was the exhibition and practical demonstrations, where trainees showcased projects and live displays of the skills acquired during the six-month training.

The practical sessions gave guests the opportunity to witness the creativity, technical competence, and confidence of the graduands, reinforcing the importance of hands-on technical education.

Outstanding trainees were also recognised for their exceptional performance during the programme.

Mr. Kolade Ojo Oluwafemi emerged as the Best Artisan Trainee in Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Miss Aishatu Abubakar Atiku won the Best Artisan Trainee in Welding and Fabrication, while Mr. Suleiman Shittu received the award for Best Artisan Trainee in Painting, Decoration and Finishes.

Speaking at the event, the Director of Morene Ventures Limited, Bldr. Gyok Matthew Gyang, said the programme had transformed many participants from unskilled labourers into certified professionals equipped for the labour market.

“Many people began as labourers, but today they have become skilled professionals with recognised qualifications. Our goal is to equip them with practical skills that will change their lives and their communities,” he said.

He urged the graduates to embrace their new professional identity and use the knowledge acquired to create opportunities for themselves and others.

Delivering a goodwill message, Deputy Director, Directorate of Physical Facilities, University of Jos, and Director of Works, College of Education, Gindiri, Bldr. Imil Iliya Asuka, advised the graduands to remain disciplined and committed to continuous improvement.

“Whether you choose employment or entrepreneurship, remain consistent, keep learning, and always strive for excellence,” he charged.

Principal of Government Technical College Bukuru, Mr. Rwang Yohanna Dame, described the certificates as symbols of commitment and achievement but reminded the graduates that competence remains their greatest asset.

“Your certificate represents what you have learned, but your ability to apply that knowledge is what will create opportunities for you,” he said.

Representing the Managing Director of Potter7 Skill Training Center, Abuja, Engr. Rwang Moses encouraged the graduates to continue practising their skills, stressing that excellence comes through continuous practice and self-development.

Speaking on behalf of the assessors, Bldr. Azi Emmanuel commended the organisers and facilitators for their dedication to developing skilled manpower. He urged the graduates to uphold integrity and professionalism in their careers.

Former Plateau State Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Bldr. Adedeji Adeleye Paul, reminded the graduates that learning does not end with graduation.

“Employers are interested in what you can do, not only what you possess on paper. Continue learning, build relationships, and improve your competence,” he advised.

Representing the Federal Ministry of Education, Assistant Director Mr. Kyari Haruna described technical and vocational education as a vital tool for employment, entrepreneurship, and national development. He also encouraged more women to pursue careers in technical professions.

Representing the Permanent Secretary, Plateau State Ministry of Education, Bldr. Ruth Ashen urged the graduands to remain humble, embrace lifelong learning, and seek guidance from mentors as they grow professionally.

Speaking on behalf of the female participants, Miss Nissi Makama appreciated the Federal Government, Morene Ventures Limited, facilitators, and partners for providing the opportunity, saying the programme had equipped participants with practical skills and confidence.

Also speaking on behalf of the male participants, Mr. Felix Ribetnan described the six-month training as life-changing and thanked the Federal Ministry of Education, the IDEAS-TVET team, facilitators, assessors, and stakeholders for their commitment to the programme.

In his closing remarks, Bldr. Gyok Matthew Gyang reminded the graduates that the objective of the programme was not merely to obtain certificates but to acquire practical skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

He clarified that while participation certificates were presented during the ceremony, successful trainees would receive their official NSQ Level 2 certificates after completing the required certification process.

The ceremony ended with a renewed call for sustained investment in technical and vocational education, as stakeholders described skills development as a critical pathway to youth empowerment, job creation, and national economic growth.
