Karl Kumm University, Vom, Plateau State, has announced a vacancy for the position of Vice-Chancellor, inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates across Nigeria and beyond.
The internal and external advertisement, issued by the Office of the Registrar, states that the position will become vacant from May 20, 2026. The announcement was made on behalf of the Governing Council of the university.
Karl Kumm University is a private institution established by the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) on April 8, 2021, as part of the church’s commitment to quality education and manpower development in Nigeria. The university is named after Hermann Karl Wilhelm Kumm, a pioneer missionary whose efforts contributed to the establishment of COCIN.
According to the advert, the Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the university and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, ensuring efficient management of human, financial and material resources, and promoting academic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor is also expected to uphold the vision and mission of the institution while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, statutes and regulations.
Applicants for the position must be Professors with at least seven years’ experience at that rank and should have rendered a minimum of ten years of continuous service within the university system. Candidates are also expected to have held senior academic leadership or administrative positions and demonstrate strong knowledge of the Nigerian university system and global higher education practices.
The Governing Council noted that candidates must be persons of high moral integrity, sound character and good physical and mental health, with proven ability to attract research grants and other funding to support institutional development.
The tenure of the Vice-Chancellor is a single term of five years, and conditions of service are comparable to those obtainable in the Nigerian university system. However, candidates who will be above 65 years of age by May 20, 2026, are not eligible to apply.
Interested applicants are required to submit fourteen copies of a comprehensive and duly signed Curriculum Vitae, including detailed personal, academic and professional information, as well as three referees’ reports. One of the referees must be a Pastor of the church to which the applicant belongs.
Applications should be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Post of Vice-Chancellor” and addressed to the Registrar, Karl Kumm University, Vom, Plateau State. Referees are to forward confidential reports directly to the Registrar.
The advert states that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and all applications must be received within six weeks from the date of publication.
