Former Plateau State Governor and Senator, Dr. Jonah David Jang, has denied reports claiming that he called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to resign following his alleged defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a press statement dated January 12, 2026, and signed by his Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, Senator Jang described the report circulating in some print and online media outlets as misleading and taken out of context.
The statement clarified that at no point during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did Senator Jang call for Governor Mutfwang’s resignation. Instead, his comments were directed at politicians who abandon their political parties to join others, a practice he criticised generally and not personally against the Plateau State governor.
According to the statement, the former governor expressed concern over the misrepresentation of his remarks, stressing that the narrative suggesting he demanded the governor’s resignation was false.
Senator Jang therefore urged the people of Plateau State to disregard the misleading report and continue to support Governor Caleb Mutfwang in the discharge of his duties.
He reaffirmed that Governor Mutfwang continues to govern Plateau State on the mandate freely given to him by the people, calling for unity and responsible political discourse in the state.
