The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a large-scale deployment of security personnel to Jos North following the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba that claimed several lives. The police boss strongly condemned the killings, describing the incident as unacceptable and assuring residents of swift action.

In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the IGP expressed sympathy to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the people of Plateau State, and families affected by the tragic incident.

As part of efforts to restore peace, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, has been deployed to the state to assess the situation and coordinate security operations.

The police high command has also reinforced security in the area with additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives working in collaboration with other security agencies.

According to the statement, the intensified operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored, with commanders directed to ensure visible policing and sustained engagement with communities.

The IGP urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies, warning against taking the law into their own hands.

He further called on the public to provide timely and credible information that will assist security operatives in tracking down those responsible for the attack and preventing further breakdown of law and order.
