Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has received presidential approval for key development projects aimed at boosting economic growth, improving power supply, and strengthening security across the state.

The approval was conveyed during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Presidential Regulatory Committee on Technology Transfer, Mohammed Dahiru, alongside security expert, Suleiman D. El-ladan, at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos.

According to the delegation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Jos to equip young people with practical and employable skills.

The initiative, under the National Agency for Science and Technology framework, is expected to reduce youth unemployment and limit their exposure to crime and social vices.

Dr. Dahiru also disclosed plans for a 1,000-megawatt power project to be developed across Northern Nigeria through a proposed New Nigerian Energy Company in partnership with the United States.

He noted that Plateau State has been selected as one of the pilot locations, adding that the project will improve electricity supply, support businesses, and boost economic activities in the region.

The committee chairman further extended condolences to the state government over recent security challenges and assured of continued collaboration to address them.

Speaking on security, Rear Admiral El-ladan stressed the need to strengthen existing frameworks to tackle emerging threats across communities.

He revealed plans to deploy advanced systems under a “Community-Led Integrated Focus Protection Framework,” supported by international partners.

According to him, the initiative will improve intelligence gathering, enhance rapid response, and ensure better protection of lives and property in Plateau State.

The intervention is expected to bring lasting benefits, including job creation, improved power supply, and stronger security architecture, positioning Plateau State for sustainable growth and development.
