Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it will bring more development and federal support to Plateau State. He described the move as a step toward unity, peace, and progress for the people of the state.

Speaking at a grand reception in Jos, the Vice President highlighted Plateau’s history of producing leaders who promote peace and reconciliation. He noted that Governor Mutfwang’s move to the APC shows his commitment to unity and good leadership. The Vice President said the Governor has chosen dialogue over division and is already driving change in Plateau through peacebuilding, supporting farmers, youth empowerment, and improved social services.
Vice President Shettima also highlighted that the move will bring federal support, more development projects, better security, the recruitment of 1,000 youths as Forest Guards, and the start of the long-awaited Akwanga–Jos Road to boost growth and connectivity in Plateau State.

During the warm reception, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, National Chairman of the APC, officially welcomed Governor Mutfwang into the party while handing over the APC flag. He said the Governor’s joining strengthens the party, promotes unity, and signals a new era of collaboration in Plateau State.
Prof. Yilwatda stressed that all party leaders and supporters must now work together to drive development, ensure justice, and build lasting peace across Plateau.

Governor Mutfwang described the day as historic, marking a new journey to make Plateau a key player in future elections. He expressed confidence that the people of Plateau support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 elections and said joining the APC is a step toward unity, progress, and strategic realignment.
He thanked party leaders and supporters for their support and emphasized that his goal is to strengthen, not take over, the party. The Governor promised to serve all citizens, protect Plateau’s heritage, and work with everyone to ensure peace and development.

In his goodwill message, Senate President Godswill Akpabio said Governor Mutfwang’s move is a major step for Plateau and the North Central region. He pledged that the National Assembly will support peace, protect all religions, help displaced people return home, and bring development, security, and opportunities to the state.
Also speaking, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, said the Governor’s joining is historic and unites the North Central region. He urged Governor Mutfwang to be fair to all members, promote peace, and assured full party support to help Plateau grow.
Sen. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, welcomed Governor Mutfwang, saying the move brings renewed hope, unity, and progress to Plateau. He promised that the party will continue working for the prosperity and development of the region.

Engr. Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa and Chairman of the North-Central Governors Forum, said the Governor’s joining completes the region and strengthens the party. He expressed confidence that this move will help APC win in Plateau State in 2027 and called for unity and teamwork among states.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives thanked the Vice President, Governor Mutfwang, national leaders, party members, and the people of Plateau for their support and prayers. He said the event marks a new beginning for Plateau and a brighter future for Nigeria.
