The Plateau Indigenous Staff and Students (PISS) of the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology (FCMLST), Jos, has officially dissociated itself from a viral publication calling on the Federal Government to immediately replace the former Provost of the institution, Prof. Obong Sunday Etukudoh saying the Former Provost had since handed over the leader of the Institution to the Acting Acting Provost Dr. Ejinaka Obiora

The group chairman CPC plateau staff and students federal college of medical laboratory science and technology Chief Butswat Gidado Manasseh described the publication, which reportedly originated from a group of “youths,” as a calculated attempt to incite unnecessary tension and disrupt the prevailing peace and stability within the college.

In a disclaimer made available to journalists in Jos, the Chairman of PISS stated that the association was neither aware of nor a party to the publication titled: “Youths Urge Fed. Govt for Immediate Replacement of Former Provost of FSMLT, Jos,” which has been circulating on various online platforms.

According to the statement, the demands contained in the said publication do not reflect the current reality of the institution, nor do they represent the views or concerns of the indigenous staff and students.

“We wish to categorically state that PISS is not a party to the said publication. The information being circulated is misleading and capable of posing a threat to the orderly administration of the College, especially now that an Acting Provost has already assumed full responsibility for the leadership of the institution,” the statement read.

The group expressed concern over the continued focus on the former Provost, Prof. Obong Sunday Nkereuwem Etukudoh, noting that he had long since handed over the reins of leadership to the Acting Provost. PISS questioned the motives of those behind the narrative, suggesting that “certain interests” with personal grievances against the former Provost may be attempting to create a false sense of crisis.

“It is evident that certain interests opposed to the former Provost are behind this controversy to mislead the general public. We believe that matters concerning the college should be handled through appropriate official channels rather than through inciting media publications,” PISS added.

Reiterating its support for the current leadership, the group noted that the Acting Provost has fully embraced his responsibilities and is discharging his duties with the seriousness they deserve.

PISS, therefore, urged members of the public, the media, and relevant stakeholders to disregard the publication in its entirety, insisting that all official communications regarding the interests of Plateau indigenous staff and students would only come through recognized and authorized representatives.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to the progress and harmonious administration of the Federal College, pledging to continue constructive engagement for the overall interest of the institution.
