In a disturbing incident, seven people were killed and one person critically injured in the Congo community of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State.
The attack, which occurred around 7 p.m. in the community’s market, took place shortly after the market had closed for the day. By that time, most traders and customers had already left, leaving only a few behind.
According to sources within the community, the injured victim is currently in critical condition and receiving medical attention. The attack has heightened security tensions in the area, which has seen an alarming increase in violent incidents recently.
Despite attempts to reach the Plateau State Police Command for comments, the spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, has yet to respond to inquiries.
The latest attack adds to the growing insecurity in Bokkos LGA, where various communities have been repeatedly targeted, leaving residents in a constant state of fear and uncertainty. The community now faces the grim task of mourning their dead and hoping for improved security measures to prevent further tragedies.
