The Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has issued a stern warning to builders, construction companies, and the general public about the illegal dumping of building materials on public roads, which is causing significant blockages and posing risks to other road users.
According to a public notice signed by PEPSA’s Director General, Mr. Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, the agency has observed an increase in the dumping of construction materials such as sand, gravel, and bricks on public roads. This practice, along with the disposal of other items, is obstructing roadways and creating serious inconveniences for the public.
“In the coming days, PEPSA will be strictly enforcing penalties against anyone who violates this regulation by blocking public roads with construction materials or any other items that impede road use,” Dapiya stated.
The agency urged all builders and developers to ensure that construction materials and other items related to their operations are stored properly on-site and do not obstruct public pathways.
Dapiya emphasized that cooperation from the public and industry stakeholders is crucial for maintaining the safety and convenience of all road users.
