The training, hosted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) through its Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) in collaboration with the Foundation for Transparency and Accountability (FTA), took place at the ICPC Headquarters in Abuja.

During the session, Hon Bagos emphasized the critical role of state legislators in combating corruption and promoting good governance. He underscored the need for a strong legislative framework and the importance of lawmakers being vigilant and proactive in their oversight functions.

Bagos also highlighted the significance of transparency in public financial management, stressing that it is the bedrock of trust between the government and the people. By strengthening accountability mechanisms, he argued, state assemblies can help ensure that public resources are used efficiently and effectively to benefit all citizens.

The training also provided a platform for participants to engage in interactive discussions and share experiences on best practices in legislative oversight. Experts from ACAN and FTA presented case studies on successful anti-corruption initiatives and offered practical strategies for implementing transparency and accountability measures within state legislatures.

The lawmakers were encouraged to take the lessons learned back to their respective states and work towards building a more transparent and accountable governance system.
