Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, has sworn in 22 new Special Advisers, with the demand that they work together to create wealth in light of Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
The Governor announced this on Monday, March 4, 2024, during the swearing-in ceremony for special advisers at the Banquet Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
“Of course the attitude in our client where you get an appointment they say you have made it, but can I inform you that you have come in the seasonal of poverty, so it means we must join hands together to create wealth.”
“We are at a very difficult juncture in the history of this country and I am an advocate that after election you forget politics and face governance. And even though the federal government is being led by a party other than my own, I owe you the duty to tell Nigerians the truth that this government inherited a worse situation than 1999.” He said.
The Governor highlighted Nigeria’s economic issues, citing the recent warehouse looting in Abuja as a significant issue in the country.
“This government inherited an economy where we simply printed money up to the tune of N30 trillion and shared. This government inherited an economy where the crude oil we were yet to take out of the ground had been sold in advance. So when you’re talking about the fall of the Naira is not rocket science. We sold our future under the last administration. No wonder you’re hearing of riots today, people intercepting food on the way. We are lucky on the Plateau”
The Governor encouraged all citizens to participate in agriculture, citing it as an opportunity to feed the populis and encourage innovation for economic prosperity.
