Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun, a Nigerian artist, has said that famous singer and rapper Olamide influenced him.
In a recent Snapchat video of himself freestyling, the ‘Cheche’ crooner stated Olamide inspired how he creates his songs.
While admitting the YBNL boss’ impact on his calligraphy, the former DMW signee stated that Baddo taught him that good songwriting does not have to be in English.
He captioned the video, “Na Baddo [Olamide] make me know say pen game no be by English o! IYKVK.”
Mayorkun rose to prominence in 2016 after releasing a rendition of Davido’s ‘The Money’ single, which featured Olamide, and was found by the singer on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Davido recruited him to his record company, DMW, where he launched his debut track, ‘Eleko,’ and quickly rose to prominence.
He won the highly coveted Next Rated category at The Headies two years later, solidifying his popularity.
Mayorkun severed relations with Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, in 2021.
