Plateau State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, P.A. Daffi, has been conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), joining 67 other legal practitioners sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The ceremony, held at the Supreme Court Complex in Abuja, marked the conferment of the rank on 68 legal practitioners during activities marking the 2026/2027 legal year.
In her address, Kekere-Ekun urged judicial officers to embrace reforms aimed at accelerating the administration of justice, citing the growing number of cases before the courts.
She also called on judges to leverage technology to improve the adjudication of cases and enhance the efficiency of the judicial system.
The CJN disclosed that more than 2,000 cases were filed at the Supreme Court during the year under review, with civil matters accounting for the majority.
Daffi’s elevation marks a significant milestone in his legal career and adds to the professional recognition of Plateau State’s legal community.
As the state’s chief legal officer, he oversees legal affairs and coordinates the activities of the Plateau State Ministry of Justice.
His administration’s reform initiatives have included the establishment of the Plateau State Law Reform Commission and the Citizens’ Mediation Centre to promote legal clarity and alternative dispute resolution.
The ministry has also pursued the digitalisation of legal resources and capacity-building programmes for prosecutors and investigators as part of efforts to strengthen justice delivery.
Daffi’s conferment comes amid broader calls for reforms to make justice more accessible, efficient and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
