The Patience Nyiri Godwin Charity Foundation (PNGCF), in collaboration with the Office of Zere Za’ang, has organised a menstrual hygiene awareness programme to educate students on proper menstrual health and promote healthy practices among young girls.

The programme aimed to equip students with practical knowledge to manage menstruation safely, confidently and hygienically.

Speaking on the initiative, Amen Moses Gwom, who represented the foundation, said the programme was designed to address misconceptions and stigma surrounding menstruation while empowering young girls with essential knowledge about their menstrual health.

She said the students were educated on personal hygiene during menstruation, the importance of changing sanitary pads regularly, proper disposal of used pads, handwashing and maintaining cleanliness to prevent infections.

Gwom added that a practical demonstration was conducted to teach the girls the correct way to position, use, change and dispose of sanitary pads, while encouraging them to discuss menstruation openly without shame or fear of discrimination.

“Our goal is to ensure that young girls have access to the right information and basic menstrual hygiene products to manage their periods with confidence and dignity,” he said.

As part of the intervention, PNGCF donated 100 sanitary pads to the students to ease the challenges associated with accessing essential menstrual hygiene products.

The foundation participated in the educational sessions and practical demonstrations to the students.

The initiative also emphasised that menstruation is a normal biological process and that access to menstrual health education is essential to the well-being, confidence and dignity of young girls.

The Office of Zere Za’ang expressed appreciation to PNGCF for its collaboration, generosity and commitment to improving the well-being of the students.

The office described the partnership as a meaningful intervention that went beyond the donation of sanitary pads by equipping students with practical knowledge and skills they could apply in their daily lives.

The programme reflects PNGCF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and promoting the health, dignity and welfare of young girls through community-based initiatives.
