The Plateau State chapter of Asiwaju Connect Group has been launched with a mandate to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and galvanise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The launch brought together political figures, academics and youth leaders, who pledged to deepen support for the Tinubu administration and take the group’s activities to communities across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Plateau State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Ibrahim Agbalak, called for stronger grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Agbalak said electoral victories were secured through effective organisation at the local government, ward and community levels, rather than only through conferences, television and social media.
“Elections are not won only in conference halls, on television or social media. Elections are won through organisation at the grassroots, at the local government, ward and community levels.”
He said the group would establish structures across communities to create awareness and connect directly with voters, stressing that the campaign must extend beyond the cities to the villages.
Agbalak also urged members to run an issue-based campaign devoid of insults and attacks on opponents, while outlining plans to build functional structures from the state to community and unit levels.
“Let us campaign without insult. Let us campaign on ideas and policies. We should respect other political parties,” he said, urging members to “organise, mobilise, communicate and engage” for victory in 2027.
The Patron of the group, Prof. Jeremiah Madaki, called for stronger collaboration among support groups mobilising for Tinubu’s re-election, urging members to leverage existing networks and resources.
“We are not fighting, we are collaborating. Where we can have joint structures, let’s have them. The more the merrier. We need to leverage our resources and work together to achieve our goal.”
Former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Deputy Coordinator of the group, Rt. Hon. Thomas Sule, urged members and other support groups to unite for victory in the 2027 elections.
Sule called for coordinated grassroots mobilisation from polling units to wards and local governments, noting that Tinubu did not win Plateau State in 2023 and urging members to work collectively to change the outcome in 2027.
The National Coordinator of Asiwaju Connect Group, Hon. Sunday Momoh commended the Plateau chapter for its mobilisation efforts, assuring members that their work would not be in vain.
He described Plateau as strategically important to the North-Central, urging members to take the campaign to their families and communities and ensure a strong presence across all 17 local government areas ahead of the 2027 elections.
The unveiling ceremony ended with the presentation of appointment letters to members of the Plateau State executive committee in recognition of their respective roles in the organisation.

Salome Tanimu W., Women Leader; Hon. John Kokshik, Youth Leader; Hon. Maren Ishaku, Media and Publicity; and Hon. Samuel Umaru, Auditor.
