Senator I. D. Gyang has mourned the death of former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Ajang Azi, describing him as a towering political leader, bridge builder and unifying figure.
Gyang, in a condolence message, said Azi’s contributions to public service and Plateau State would remain an enduring part of his legacy.
He said, “Rt. Hon. Azi was a consummate politician and a true bridge builder whose leadership, humility, and commitment to the cause of the people and public service left an enduring mark on Plateau State.
“As Speaker, he steered the legislature with dedication and a deep sense of responsibility.
“Beyond the corridors of power, he remained an inspiring leader, a unifying figure who worked tirelessly to promote peace, dialogue, and understanding across divides.
“His life of passion for service to the people, and quiet strength will continue to inspire many and endure as a legacy in his memory.”
Gyang extended his condolences to the Azi Ajang family, the Izere nation, the people of Jos North West whom the deceased represented, and the entire Plateau State.
He prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
