Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Sunday Garba Biggs, has pledged to respect and uphold the state’s zoning arrangement if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Biggs made the promise during a press briefing in Jos after emerging as the PDP governorship flagbearer.
The PDP candidate said his aspiration was driven by the desire to provide inclusive leadership and redirect Plateau State towards meaningful development.
“I have spent over 20 years in government service and administration, and I understand the workings of governance and what Plateau people expect from leadership,” he said.
Biggs stressed that Plateau State requires a fresh approach to governance, insisting that repeating old methods would not solve the challenges facing the state.
“Plateau needs a paradigm shift. We cannot continue repeating the same governance pattern and expect different results,” he stated.
Speaking on inclusivity, the Mangu-born politician promised to run a bottom-up administration where communities would be carried along in government decisions and project implementation.
“We will adopt a bottom-up approach where communities will tell government what they need before projects are designed and implemented,” Biggs explained.
On security, he proposed a community-based structure involving families, communities, local governments, and the state in intelligence gathering and surveillance.
The governorship hopeful also promised to revive and strengthen Operation Rainbow to improve security across Plateau State.
Speaking on zoning, Biggs assured Plateau citizens that he would only serve the remaining four years allocated to the Central Zone if elected governor.
“Zoning brings stability, fairness, and equity. I want to be remembered as someone who upheld the arrangement and protected the unity of Plateau,” he added.
He further called on Plateau residents and the media to support a leadership that would transform the state’s challenges into practical solutions and sustainable development.
