President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged victorious in the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted in Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Governor of Plateau, Caleb Mutfwang, who served as the Returning Officer for the exercise in the state, announced the result on Saturday night in Jos after the collation of votes from the 17 local government areas.

According to the governor, President Tinubu secured a total of 242,023 votes to defeat his challenger, Tunde Osifo, who polled 303 votes.

Mutfwang stated that the figures announced represented the official votes collated from across the 17 local government areas of the state.

“By the powers vested in me as the Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary election in Plateau State, I hereby certify this as the official summary of votes collated from the 17 Local Government Areas,” the governor declared.

He commended party members for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the exercise, describing the primary election as transparent, orderly, and credible.

Governor Mutfwang also praised the commitment, unity, and discipline displayed by APC supporters during the voting process across the state.

The presidential primary witnessed massive participation by party faithful, with thousands of APC members reportedly turning out to endorse President Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

At the Federal Government College, Jos, which served as the voting centre for Jos North Local Government Area, supporters were seen in large numbers chanting solidarity songs and expressing support for the president.

The exercise across Plateau State was generally peaceful and celebratory, reflecting what party officials described as growing confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and the APC ahead of the next general elections.

The statement announcing the outcome of the election was signed by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Executive Governor of Plateau State.
