The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA), has continued to play a critical role in safeguarding lives and property across Taraba State. Its response to emergencies has positioned it as a dependable agency in times of crisis.
In 2026, the agency has intensified its operations, responding swiftly to both natural and man-made disasters. These efforts have reduced the impact of emergencies on affected communities.
The agency’s presence has also improved public awareness on disaster prevention. Residents are now more informed on how to respond during emergencies.

The Executive Secretary, Dr. Echuseh Audu, highlighted some incidents handled by the agency across the state.
“Some of the incidents include fire outbreaks at Jeka da Fari, Nana Aisha, a school and residential buildings, NNPC filling station, Government Science Secondary School Jalingo, Wukari Local Government Secretariat, and pharmaceutical stores,” She said.
She explained that prompt intervention helped to control the situations. The agency’s quick response prevented further destruction in many of the affected locations.
Dr. Audu also stressed the importance of partnership in emergency response.
“Our collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency has strengthened our response capacity and ensured timely interventions,” She noted.
Speaking on environmental risks, She warned about the increasing threat of flooding.
“Flood is a nature-induced disaster exacerbated by human activity. It has affected thousands of people over the years,” She stated.
She added that forecasts have indicated possible flooding in some areas. This calls for urgent preventive actions by residents.
Dr. Audu urged the public to adopt safety measures to reduce risks.
“Do not build along waterways, ensure proper drainage, evacuate flood-prone areas, and adhere to early warning alerts,” he advised.
She emphasized that disaster management requires collective effort. According to her, everyone has a role to play in preventing avoidable disasters.

The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has continued to support the agency’s work. His administration is committed to strengthening emergency response systems across the state.
Governor Kefas also urged citizens to remain vigilant and law-abiding. He reassured residents of his government’s commitment to protecting lives and property while supporting agencies like TSEMA.
