The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday led a high-powered delegation of security chiefs on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State.
The visit is part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and ensure lasting peace across the state following recent security concerns.
Upon arrival, the COAS was received by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, in a move that underscored strong civil-military collaboration.

During the visit, the Army Chief received a detailed operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola.
The briefing highlighted ongoing operations and coordinated strategies being implemented with other security agencies to tackle threats and stabilize affected communities.
“The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and entrench lasting peace across the state.”
The COAS also engaged with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
“The Nigerian Army remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding all law-abiding citizens.”
He urged residents to remain calm and support security agencies by complying with directives and cooperating with ongoing operations.
“Residents are encouraged to remain calm, vigilant and supportive of security agencies by complying with the curfew and cooperating fully with ongoing operations.”

The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. John Kyoroh Christopher, commended the visit.
“The presence of the nation’s top military leadership will boost public confidence and reinforce trust in ongoing security efforts.”
Also speaking, the Councillor representing Naraguta ‘B’ Ward, Hon. Ladi Dangyok, described the intervention as timely and reassuring.
“This is a strong reassurance to affected communities and a clear demonstration of commitment to restoring peace.”
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to work closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to address security challenges in the state.
The coordinated approach, according to military authorities, is aimed at strengthening community resilience and ensuring long-term stability.
Authorities expressed confidence that the ongoing efforts will lead to improved security and peaceful coexistence across Plateau State.
