The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Plateau State Polytechnic has reassured students of their safety following a recent attack by unknown assailants within the institution’s environment.
In a press release issued by the SUG President, the union expressed deep concern over the incident and urged students to remain calm despite the tension.
The statement emphasized that the safety and well-being of students remain the union’s top priority at this critical time.
“I address you at this critical moment with a heart of concern and responsibility following the recent attack by unknown assailants within our environment,” the SUG President stated.
Students were advised to stay alert and avoid unnecessary movement to reduce exposure to potential danger.
The union also encouraged students to remain in safe locations and maintain communication with trusted individuals and relevant authorities.
“Please avoid unnecessary movements, stay in safe locations, and keep in close contact with trusted friends and authorities,” the statement added.
According to the SUG, it is actively engaging with government authorities and security agencies to ensure the safety of all students.
As part of immediate response measures, the union disclosed that arrangements are underway to provide transportation support to safer locations.
The planned movement, according to the statement, will help students relocate to safer areas and designated focal points closer to their destinations.
“Arrangements are currently being made to provide transportation support for students to safer locations and focal points closer to their respective destinations,” the SUG President said.
The union assured students that all necessary steps are being handled with urgency and care.
It further revealed that details of a designated convergence point and movement plan will be communicated once finalized.
“A designated convergence point and detailed movement plan will be communicated to all students as soon as final arrangements are concluded,” the statement noted.
Students were also warned against spreading unverified information that could cause panic or confusion.
They were urged to rely strictly on official communication channels for updates regarding the situation.
The SUG reiterated its solidarity with students, assuring them that they are not alone during this difficult moment.
“We stand with you in this moment. You are not alone, and every step is being taken to ensure your safety,” the statement concluded.
Students were once again encouraged to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as efforts continue to restore normalcy.
