Senator Istifanus D. Gyang, Former Senator representing Plateau North has expressed outrage over the killing of innocent persons during a Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, describing the incident as a horrific and unacceptable act of violence.
In a statement, the senator said he was deeply saddened by the tragedy, noting that the attack, which occurred on Palm Sunday, was a grave assault on peace, humanity, and the sanctity of life.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and sympathized with the entire community affected by the incident.
“My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of unimaginable pain and loss,” he said.
Gyang also expressed solidarity with residents of the area, praying for comfort for the bereaved and healing for those injured in the attack.
“I stand in solidarity with the entire community, praying for comfort for the bereaved, healing for the injured, and strength for all those affected,” he added.
The senator strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a barbaric act that has no place in any civilized society.
“I unequivocally condemn this heinous act of terror. Such violence has no place in our society and must be met with firm resolve, justice, and a renewed commitment to peace and unity,” he stated.
He called on citizens to remain united and not allow fear or hatred to divide communities, urging collective efforts toward peace and coexistence.
“We must not allow fear or hatred to divide us; instead, we must come together, stronger and more determined, to uphold the values of compassion, tolerance, and coexistence,” Gyang said.
The senator further urged security agencies to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible for the attack and ensuring they face justice.
He concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of the victims and strength for their families during the difficult time.
