During the visit, the governor commiserated with bereaved families and assured them that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. He described the incident as unacceptable and a threat to the peace of the state.
“We will not allow this kind of evil to go unpunished. Those responsible for this act will be identified and brought to justice,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang also announced that the state government will organize a befitting burial for the victims and take full responsibility for the medical bills of those currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
“The Plateau State Government will ensure a befitting burial for the deceased and will take full responsibility for the treatment of those injured,” he added.
He further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to support government efforts in addressing security challenges and promoting peaceful coexistence.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, strengthening security, and fostering unity across Plateau State.
In a related development, the Plateau State Government has reiterated the enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycle operations, popularly known as Okada, within the Jos Greater Master Plan as part of measures to strengthen security.
The Commissioner for Transport, Davou Gyang Jatau, stated that security agencies and mobile courts have been directed to intensify patrols, arrest violators, and ensure strict compliance with the directive.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements involving motorcycles within restricted areas, as the government continues efforts to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety.
The government emphasized that the restriction is part of broader strategies aimed at restoring order, improving transport management, and preventing further security breaches across the state.
