No fewer than 28 persons have been reportedly killed, with several others injured, following a deadly attack by suspected gunmen in Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The tragic incident, which occurred on Sunday night, March 28, 2026, around 7:50 p.m., has left the community in shock and mourning.

Youth leaders in the area confirmed the casualty figure, describing the ആക്രമ as coordinated and devastating, with residents caught unawares.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the community and began shooting indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety amid the sound of heavy gunfire.

According to Matthew Tegha, who visited the scene, counted 28 bodies, while several injured victims were said to have been rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The attack reportedly caused widespread panic, as families scrambled to escape the violence and seek refuge in safer areas.

Community leaders condemned the incident, calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to prevent further attacks and protect residents.

Security personnel, including operatives of the Nigerian Army, were later deployed to the area to restore calm and maintain order.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while tension remains high in the affected community.
