In a heartwarming display of humanitarianism, Plateau State Commissioner of Finance, Honorable Grace Shwarta Dongkum, has brought quality healthcare to the doorstep of the Miship community in Chip District, Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The 3-day free medical outreach, organized by the commissioner, flagged off today 26th March 2026 has witnessed an unprecedented crowd of people seeking medical attention, a service they couldn’t afford otherwise.
The traditional ruler of Miship, Nda Sunday Daja II, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We really appreciate because our people are suffering in this community. From here to Pankshin is far, from here to Shandam is far, from here to Mangu is far. So if our daughter can help us and bring this medical outreach down to our people, then what have we to say than to say thank you?”
The medical team, comprising experts from various hospitals in Plateau State, is led by Dr. Nuhu Nanle Ma’an, a consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeon.
According to Dr. Ma’an, the team has seen a range of cases, including surgical, gynecological, and general outpatient consultations.
“The cases range from ovarian cysts, fibroids, hynea, hydrocells, and lipomas, among others,” he said.
The team is well-equipped with sufficient drugs and medical supplies to handle the large number of patients.
“We have drugs that will cover all these medical cases and then antibiotic covers for cases that need surgery, till discharge,” Dr. Ma’an assured.
The commissioner’s effort has not only brought relief to the people but also earned the appreciation of the traditional ruler and the community.
“We thank God for Grace Dongkum and Governor Caleb Mutfwang for supporting the Miship nation,” the traditional ruler said.
The outreach is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving healthcare in rural areas, and the people of Miship are grateful for this rare opportunity.
As Nda Miship put it, “we will vote for Mutfwang and Tinubu, for the help we are receiving.”
