Preparations have intensified for the formal reception of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), an event widely seen as a major shift in the state’s political landscape.
The Central Planning Committee for the event said the reception has generated widespread interest across Plateau State and beyond, reflecting growing expectations of a new phase of political cooperation and development.
Speaking at a press briefing in Jos, Chairman of the Committee and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, said the ceremony would hold on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Jos Polo Field.
Wase explained that the Governor’s decision to join the APC goes beyond party politics and represents a move towards inclusive governance and collective responsibility.
He noted that the political realignment is expected to create a more stable environment for infrastructure development, economic growth, and improved security across the state.
According to him, the move positions Plateau State to benefit more from national programmes and policies under the APC-led Federal Government.
The committee chairman also highlighted Governor Mutfwang’s leadership style, describing him as calm, consultative, and focused on the welfare of the people.
Wase confirmed that the Governor formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party in December 2025 before aligning with the APC early in January 2026.
He disclosed that extensive preparations are ongoing to ensure a well-organised event, with committees handling security, logistics, protocol, media, and crowd control.
Top national leaders of the APC, including the Vice President and other party officials, are expected to attend the reception.
The committee assured residents and visitors of adequate security and effective traffic management during the event.
Wase also called on the people of Plateau State to maintain peace and order, saying the reception presents an opportunity to project the state as united, hospitable, and politically mature.
