Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has officially started its campus radio station, PLASU FM 103.3. This marks an important achievement for the university.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, led the university management during the first test broadcast. He said the radio station will provide information, education, and entertainment to students, staff, and nearby communities.

Professor Best explained that PLASU FM is part of the university’s plan to improve media education. He said the station will help students gain practical experience in radio broadcasting and media work.

He also announced that the university has upgraded the Mass Communication Department into a full Faculty of Media Studies. This will help students receive better training and prepare them for careers in the media industry.

The Vice Chancellor added that PLASU FM will air programmes in local languages, including Butura language. He said this will help promote local culture and discover hidden talents in music and entertainment.

The radio station is located inside the university at the Simon Bako Lalong Garden. The building was originally constructed in 2005 and has now been activated for broadcasting.
