The city of Jos is preparing for a major faith and musical gathering as the Plateau Unity Carols & Praise Festival commences on Friday, November 28th. With final arrangements in place, expectations are high for a large turnout, reflecting the growing significance of the event in the state’s festive calendar.
Now in its second edition under the leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the three-day festival will run from November 28th to 30th. It is being organized through a partnership between the Plateau State Government and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), aimed at promoting unity, worship, and cultural identity.
The festival has attracted the participation of notable national figures. Special Guests of Honour include former Head of State, Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon; former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; and the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa.
Attendees will also benefit from spiritual ministrations by distinguished clerics. Former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, are expected to lead worship sessions during the event.
A key attraction of the festival is its rich musical programme. The lineup includes a 300-trumpeter ensemble and several top Nigerian gospel artists such as Sinach, Osinachi Kalu Okoro-Egbu, and Buchi Atuonwu. They will perform alongside Abuja-based choirs, Hausa gospel singers from Katsina, and indigenous Plateau musicians.
The festival will also showcase special children’s presentations, featuring Christmas songs rendered in different Plateau dialects. This addition aims to celebrate the state’s diverse cultural heritage while reinforcing the theme of unity.
With the theme “Plateau United in Praise,” the event will hold daily at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Jos from 3:00 PM. Organizers say the venue is prepared to host thousands of worshippers throughout the three-day programme.
As anticipation builds, the Plateau Unity Carols & Praise Festival is poised to serve as a major highlight of the Christmas season, offering an atmosphere of joy, music, and communal harmony for residents and visitors alike.
