Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has distanced himself from the controversial motion seeking the expulsion of key figures within the party, including Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose, Samuel Anyanwu, and several others.
In a press statement issued by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs, it contained that Governor Mutfwang clarified that the matter was never discussed at any level before it was brought forward. He stressed that the proposal does not represent his personal stance nor that of the platforms where such decisions are usually deliberated.
Governor Mutfwang clarified that this subject was neither discussed by Governors Forum nor at NEC before the motion was presented. He emphasized that the proposal does not reflect his position on the matter.
The governor cautioned that expelling prominent party members at a sensitive moment like this could worsen the party’s internal issues. He emphasized the need for reconciliation rather than confrontation in addressing the current challenges.
Governor Mutfwang further noted that expelling the party leaders at this crucial time is not a strategic step toward resolving the internal challenges currently confronting the PDP. He reiterated the need for unity, dialogue, and collective effort in rebuilding and repositioning the party.
