The BARC Farms Project under the Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Scheme initiated by Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration has recorded an impressive harvest, bringing smiles to the faces of young farmers across the state.

The initiative, designed to promote youth participation in agriculture, covers 1,000 hectares of farmland and provides modern farming tools, training, and support for over 1,000 beneficiaries.

Each participant was allocated one hectare of land for the cultivation of crops such as maize, rice, and sorghum, supported by state-provided tractors, sprayers, and other mechanized farming equipment.

The project, which is part of the governor’s effort to boost food production and create employment opportunities, is already showing great promise with a bountiful harvest recorded this season.

Speaking to reporters, some of the participating youths expressed joy over the outcome, describing the harvest as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to agricultural development.

One of the participants, Ben Daze, noted that the success of the program demonstrates Plateau’s potential for food sufficiency if the initiative is sustained.

“From the current harvest at BARC Farms, it’s clear that Plateau can produce enough food to feed itself and even beyond if this program continues,” Daze said.

He commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for empowering young people through agriculture and reviving the long-abandoned BARC Farms for productive use.

“We are proud of this initiative and the governor’s drive to take Plateau to greater heights,” he added.

The BARC Farms Project stands as a key milestone in the Mutfwang administration’s commitment to economic recovery through agriculture, positioning Plateau State as a leading example of youth-driven agribusiness success in Nigeria.
