The Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Volunteer Artisans Network (VAN) to empower artisans and strengthen small businesses across Plateau State.

Speaking during the signing ceremony held at the PLASMIDA office in Jos, the National Coordinator of VAN, Yerima Solomon, commended the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his continuous support toward the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) through initiatives such as the Plateau State Job Center.

He noted that the Governor’s administration, through the leadership of the Director General of PLASMIDA, Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep, has been instrumental in creating opportunities for citizens to acquire skills in areas such as digital marketing, budgeting, saving, and investment—helping them to build stronger financial and entrepreneurial capacity.

According to him, the Volunteer Artisans Network (VAN) comprises various skilled groups including tailors, GSM repairers, solar installers, shoemakers, bag makers, and barbers. He described the partnership as a major boost for artisans in the state.

Solomon further praised Governor Mutfwang for fostering a business-friendly environment and for appointing competent individuals like Hon. Wuyep, whom he described as a visionary leader driving positive change at PLASMIDA.

The MoU between PLASMIDA and VAN focuses on:

Providing training and capacity-building programs for artisans,

Enhancing access to finance and markets for MSMEs, and

Promoting entrepreneurship and innovation across Plateau State.

In his remarks, Hon. Bomkam Ali Wuyep, Director General of PLASMIDA, expressed excitement over the collaboration, describing it as “another milestone in our collective journey toward building a Plateau where enterprises thrive, youth are empowered, and prosperity is shared.”

He appreciated Governor Mutfwang for his visionary leadership and dedication to creating an enabling environment for business growth, innovation, and youth development. Wuyep reaffirmed PLASMIDA’s commitment to fully implementing the terms of the MoU to ensure its success.

The event featured the official signing of the MoU and the presentation of a customized vest jacket to the DG of PLASMIDA.
