The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated Professor Elias Nankap Lamle of the University of Jos on his appointment as the Lead Consultant for integrating peacebuilding into Nigeria’s National Action Plan (NAP) on Climate Change.

In a goodwill message, Governor Mutfwang commended the Federal Ministry of Environment and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), under the NAP Global Network, for recognizing Prof. Lamle’s expertise and entrusting him with a role of national importance.

He described the appointment as both timely and well-deserved, expressing confidence in Lamle’s ability to provide strategic guidance that will benefit Nigeria and the international community.

The Governor noted that Prof. Lamle, a Professor of Anthropology of Conflict Management and Peace Studies, is highly respected for his scholarship in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. He praised his intellectual depth, visionary approach, and contribution to shaping policies across Africa.

“Prof. Lamle’s remarkable body of work has significantly influenced conflict management frameworks and policy interventions continent-wide,” Mutfwang said. “His unwavering dedication to excellence, resilience in personal and professional development, and commitment to nation-building make him an asset not just to Plateau State, but to Nigeria and the global community.”

As Lead Consultant, Lamle will provide technical leadership in building the capacity of government institutions, civil society organizations, and state-level actors to design and implement climate action strategies that also strengthen peace and stability in all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Governor Mutfwang extended the congratulations of the Plateau State Government and its people to Prof. Lamle, offering prayers for wisdom, strength, good health, and divine guidance as he takes on the assignment.

The appointment, according to him, further places Plateau State on the global stage as a hub for expertise in peacebuilding and development.
