The Plateau State Government has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state to serve as ambassadors of peace and unity.
The call was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, during the commissioning of a photostand project executed by a corps member at the Ministry’s headquarters in Jos.
Chief Usman praised the NYSC scheme for its role in fostering national cohesion and youth development. He urged ministries and agencies to continue creating opportunities for corps members to contribute meaningfully to society.
He assured that the state government remains committed to ensuring the welfare, safety, and recognition of corps members who show dedication during their service year.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Nichola Kemi Nshe, Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, noted that Plateau remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria for corps members to serve.
He encouraged corps members to spread positive stories about Plateau, promoting peace and encouraging others to see the state in a better light.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Yavala, expressed gratitude to the state government for supporting the scheme, particularly in improving the security and welfare of corps members.
He also commended the government for the rehabilitation of the NYSC orientation camp in Mangu, describing it as a boost to the programme in the state.
The event ended with the commissioning of the photostand by Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, marking a moment of pride for the corps member behind the project and the ministry.
