The newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has pledged to foster party unity and bridge the gap between generations within the party, while working to ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by a delegation of Plateau APC stakeholders, Professor Nentawe described his emergence as National Chairman as a miracle. “I never dreamt of becoming the leader of the greatest political party in Africa. At no point did I contemplate this,” he said.
He credited his new position to divine intervention, stating, “God works in a miraculous way such that no mortal can stop or influence His will.”
Professor Nentawe assured that his leadership would mark a turning point for the APC, as he focuses on strengthening internal cohesion and preparing the party for future electoral success.
“My goal is to serve as the bridge between the youths and elders of our great party, working together in unison toward our shared goals,” he said.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing youth empowerment and disclosed that the president had approved over one trillion naira in the Bank of Industry for youth development initiatives. He called on young people in Plateau and across the country to take advantage of the opportunity to build a prosperous future.
On the political outlook in Plateau State, Professor Nentawe expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim power in 2027, citing the recent defection of structures from the Labour Party, the People’s Redemption Party, and a faction of the PDP to the APC.
He also extended his gratitude to President Tinubu and the APC National Executive Council for the trust placed in him and thanked Plateau APC supporters for their consistent backing, promising not to let them down.
Earlier, Plateau State APC Chairman, Rt. Hon. Rufus Bature said the visit was to reaffirm the state’s support for Professor Nentawe. He described the chairman’s emergence as a major recognition for the people of Plateau State, which they would not take lightly.
Also speaking, APC leader in the state and former governor, Senator Simon Lalong, said Plateau had been repositioned nationally with Nentawe’s election. He expressed optimism that the new chairman would reenergize the party in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
The delegation included members of the APC State Executive Committee, National Assembly lawmakers, local government chairmen, party elders, and former Deputy Governor Dame Pauline Tallen.
