The President of the National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS), Plateau State Polytechnic Chapter, Comrade Davidson Mark Dung, has commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his bold commitment to educational development, describing the recently commissioned projects at the institution as transformative and student-centered.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dung expressed deep appreciation for the Governor’s intervention, stating that the initiative reflects genuine concern for student welfare and institutional growth.
“Seriously, as a student leader, I am very happy, most especially coming from this particular institution, Plateau State Polytechnic. The Governor has literally been doing his best to see that he promotes student academic life, their welfare, and I’m really, really grateful for him,” he said.
The projects commissioned include a newly constructed administrative block and a renovated hall named after former Governor Joshua Dariye. These facilities are expected to significantly improve academic administration and the learning environment.
“This project commissioned today will significantly enhance both the academic experience and general student life on campus. It reflects one of the Governor’s key commitments, and so far, his administration has demonstrated a top-notch focus on student welfare. I truly believe this is a great initiative,” Dung added.
Governor Mutfwang also revealed plans to transform the Polytechnic into a University of Science and Technology, assuring the public that existing staff with valid appointments will remain as reforms are implemented.
“As a student leader representing a strong voice at the national level, I believe extending similar opportunities to other institutions would greatly benefit the students. Overall, this is a commendable and impactful initiative,” the NAPSS President noted.
The Polytechnic’s recent reaccreditation, alongside these infrastructure upgrades, signals a renewed focus on academic excellence and sustainability, an effort that students believe is worthy of commendation and continued support.
The NAPSS President, Comr Davidson, has urged the government and key stakeholders to unite in improving education and infrastructure across Plateau State. He said such efforts are vital for the growth and development of students.
He also appealed to students to take good care of school property. Davidson stressed that maintaining government projects will help protect them for future use.
