Troops of Operation Safe Haven conducted Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV from August 21 to August 28, 2023, resulting in the arrest of 17 criminal suspects involved in murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery. In addition, the troops recovered arms, ammunition, and illicit drugs.
The troops apprehended five suspects connected to the murder of Mr. Joshua Deme in Kassa village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
They also successfully carried out a sting operation in Jagindi Tasha village, Jema’a LGA, Kaduna State, resulting in the arrest of a wanted kidnapper named Baba Yusuf Habu.
Furthermore, they prevented a kidnapping attempt in Angwan Takai village, Bokkos LGA, thanks to their swift response to a distress call.
The troops conducted raids in Gwash and Kamantan villages in Jos North/Zango Kataf LGAs, recovering a pistol, cartridges, and rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
They also arrested a notorious armed robber named Mohammed Lawal in Kafanchan town and seized two fabricated rifles and one pistol.
During their operations, the troops intercepted a truck transporting vandalized railway tracks in Gidan Ado village, Riyom LGA, Plateau State.
Additionally, they apprehended a drug kingpin named Maxwell Dusu Davou with suspected illicit drugs in Waye foundation Du, Jos South LGA.
The troops engaged in a fighting patrol around Alaghom and Mangu axis, resulting in the neutralization of several bandits. They recovered an AK-47 rifle and another fabricated rifle.
Moreover, they arrested over 237 cows involved in farm destruction and cattle rustling activities, particularly in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Fas, and Riyom areas.
In total, 17 arrests were made, nine kidnapping victims were rescued, six armed robbery attempts were foiled, and four attacks on vulnerable communities were prevented during this period.
Operation Safe Haven guarantees the people of Plateau, Bauchi, and Southern Kaduna maximum protection and swift response to all distress calls in order to eliminate criminal elements operating within these communities.
