Over the weekend, the Executive Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, led more than 500 vibrant youths from across Nigeria in the “Shendam Easter Peace Hike,” a unifying event aimed at promoting peace and tourism in Plateau State.

In a media briefing during the event, Hon. Dr. Nshe (a recognized Peace Ambassador and ardent advocate for unity) highlighted the significance of the initiative in showcasing the peaceful nature of Plateau State, particularly the Southern zone. “This hike is to send a clear message to the world that Plateau State is peaceful, welcoming, and full of potential for tourism and youth-driven initiatives,” he stated.

Joining the Chairman on the hike were prominent local government leaders, including Hon. Alh. Hamisu Anani (Chairman, Wase LGC), Hon. Nanfa Nbin (Chairman, Langtang South LGC), and Hon. Christopher Manship (Chairman, Quanpan LGC). Members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, alongside other political appointees, were also present in solidarity.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Wase, Hon. Alh. Hamisu Anani, commended the organizers for their foresight and praised Hon. Dr. Nshe for fully sponsoring the event, which he described as both timely and impactful, particularly in light of recent unrest in parts of the state.

A moment of silence was solemnly observed in honor of the victims of the recent attacks in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs.

The colorful event featured a high-energy bike parade by power bikers from across the country, aerobics sessions, interactive games, a barbecue hangout, and culminated in a lively dinner party (offering both a message of hope and an avenue for community bonding).

The “Shendam Easter Peace Hike” is yet another testament to Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe’s unwavering commitment to youth engagement, peacebuilding, and regional development.
