The College of Health Technology, Zawan, Plateau State, is set for a massive renovation to improve its facilities, provide students with a conducive learning environment and enhance the institution’s image.

The planned renovation is part of efforts by the management to upgrade the college ahead of its forthcoming accreditation exercise by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), scheduled for November.

The Acting Provost, Sant. Nonshuwan Sintiki Godfrey, said the management was committed to improving the institution’s infrastructure and creating a better environment for teaching, learning and practical training.

She said the renovation would also help address existing gaps in the college’s facilities as it prepares for the assessment of about 12 academic programmes.

Godfrey explained that the accreditation exercise presented an opportunity for the institution to improve its standards and strengthen its capacity to train health professionals.

She commended the Plateau State Government for approving the accreditation exercise and providing resources to support the college’s preparations.

“We are doing this preparation in anticipation of our visitors who are coming in November. This is an accreditation that we have been longing for, and we are grateful that the government has granted us the approval and resources for the process,” she said.

The Acting Provost noted that the accreditation team would assess the institution’s training facilities and manpower, making improvements in both areas important to the college’s readiness.

She identified manpower shortages as one of the challenges facing the institution, adding that the management had presented its staffing needs to the government.

Godfrey expressed hope that sustained support and facility upgrades would help the college meet accreditation requirements, improve students’ learning experience and position the institution for further growth.
