The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mocked opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders who recently assembled in Lafia, Nasarawa State’s capital, for a strategy meeting ahead of 2027, claiming that elections can only be won on Plateau land, not in Lafia.

It should be noted that APC leaders from Plateau State convened in Lafia, Nasarawa State, for a reconciliatory engagement, as well as to reposition the party for greater success ahead of the state’s 2027 general elections.

A statement by the acting PDP publicity secretary, Alh. Mairake Yaro, from Jos, Plateau State, described the APC meeting as a gathering of failed politicians who can not deliver their wards.

He said the meeting predictably ended in a meaningless gyration with a free lunch in the government house as the  only highlight.

The spokesman however  said the PDP is curious about the opposition’s sudden preference for Lafia over Abuja.

“We shudder to ask? Have they fallen out of favor with Mr. President, or support base shrinking faster than expected”?

PDP further said the story of APC, while in power from 2015-2023, was the worst nightmare of Plateau people in their entire history, adding that it led to their overwhelming defeat in the 2023 general elections.

The Plateau ruling party further said APC seemed poised for another defeat in 2027.

Yaro also advised the APC leaders to apologise to the people of Plateau State for the wasted years marked by stagnation and retrogression.

“If the progress achieved in one year under Governor Caleb Mutfwang leadership has unsettled them to the extent of holding a reconciliatory meeting in Lafia, one can only wonder where his achievements in the second year will drive them to”?

He added that Governor  Mutfwang would   graciously approve the  Azi Nyako Youth Centre in Jos for the next APC reconciliatory meeting.

“His visionary leadership is driving sustainable development and improving the lives of the common people in the state. The governor will continue to lead with his exceptional vision, the PDP is steadfast in its commitment to collaborating closely with him to ensure a prosperous and inclusive future for all,” the party said.
