In a show of compassion and solidarity, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has extended support to victims of the recent deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The donation, made on Sunday, included essential relief materials such as 600 bags of cement, 250 bags of rice, and 50 bundles of roofing sheets to help the affected communities rebuild.

Represented by Comrade Jubril Banchir, Prof. Nentawe emphasized that the support was not just symbolic but a heartfelt gesture to stand with the grieving families.

The items were officially received by Prof. Stephen Mallo, the National President of the Ron Development Association, who expressed appreciation for the timely intervention.

The humanitarian visit followed the horrific attack by gunmen last Wednesday, which left many dead, others wounded, and entire communities devastated.

Speaking through his representative, Prof. Nentawe sent a strong message of comfort and unity to the people of Bokkos.

“It is with a deeply grieving heart that I send this message of condolence and solidarity to you during this dark and painful time,” he said.

He described the attacks as not just a tragedy to the communities but a personal loss, saying he shares in their sorrow as both a son of the soil and a public servant.

Quoting a local proverb, he reminded the people that “when fire burns the hut of one, the entire village must bring water,” reaffirming that they will not be left alone in this time of crisis.

He added that while no item could replace the lives lost, the support aims to bring a small measure of relief as the community begins the journey of rebuilding.

The minister praised the resilience and courage of the people of Bokkos, stating that despite the darkness, they will rise with strength.

He prayed for comfort for the bereaved families and healing for the wounded, urging everyone not to lose hope.

Prof. Nentawe stressed the government’s commitment to remain with the people through recovery and beyond.

“We will stand with you until we build a brighter and safer future,” he assured.

The gesture is one of several efforts to bring emergency aid and moral support to victims affected by the violence.

It also underscores the need for continued collaboration between the government and communities in restoring peace and hope in Plateau State.
