According to the students, Nigerians are already facing a lot of hardship, so the government should not add to the already dire situation by increasing tuition fees.
Students from the University of Jos in Plateau State staged a protest on Tuesday by blocking the highways leading to the university.
Their protest was in response to the university’s decision to hike tuition fees and the price of the institution’s numerous services.
The student demonstrators, who were mobilized by leaders of the institution’s Students Union Government, demanded an immediate reversal of the increase in school fees and other services provided by the University.
Armed with signs that said, among other things, “If your children can afford the money, we can’t,” and “We don’t want to drop out of school.”
According to the students, Nigerians are already facing a lot of hardship, thus the government should not add to the already dire situation by increasing tuition fees.
