Twelve suspects were apprehended by Operation Safe Haven troops in connection with the death of a herdsman in Plateau State.

This was disclosed by the OPSH Commander, Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, at a meeting with stakeholders from the state’s Mangu Local Government Area on Tuesday in Jos.

He further stated that nine of the twelve accused were released after an investigation.

On September 23, a bunch of unidentified criminals assassinated Ardo Adamu Gabdo, a herdsman in Panyam Community, Mangu LGA.

The deceased’s body had yet to be found.

Abubakar, who doubles as the General Officer Commanding, the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, said OPSH would do everything possible to track down all perpetrators of the heinous act.

“After a series of investigations, we have released nine of the suspects and three are still with us.

“The three are really cooperating with us and are providing useful information that is leading us to the real culprits.

“I assure Plateau people that anyone involved in this criminal act will be arrested,’’ the commander added.

Abubakar also denied reports that troops tortured the suspects, insisting that such unprofessionalism would not be condoned in his command.

The Senate modifies its rules and prohibits first-time members from running for presiding officer positions.
