Speaking at a Ramadan lecture and fundraising event organized by the Forum, the Senator highlighted the critical importance of peaceful coexistence, especially in a region characterized by diverse cultures, religions, and ethnicities.

“There is no alternative to peace,” Sen. Mwadkwon emphasized during his address at the event, which was held at Masalachin Juma’a. He called on other communities across Plateau State to follow Abba Na Shehu Ward’s example, lauding their efforts in fostering understanding and cooperation among different groups. The event not only centered on peaceful coexistence but also focused on youth empowerment through small-scale businesses and skill acquisition—an initiative Sen. Mwadkwon strongly supported.

Reflecting on the divine nature of human diversity, Sen. Mwadkwon stated, “If God wanted, He would have created human beings as one tribe, one religion, or one race. But since He did not, it means He wants us to coexist peacefully, regardless of our differences.” He pointed out the dangers of idleness among youths, stressing that the empowerment programs being championed by the Forum would help prevent them from becoming tools for social vices. He also expressed concern about the misuse of social media, urging young people to harness its potential for promoting peace rather than spreading animosity.

The event saw attendance from several key figures, including the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Hon. Arch Samuel N. Jatau, who represented the Executive Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang. Hon. Jatau applauded the community for its peace-building efforts and urged them to continue working towards unity.

The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Yarry Kumchi, reiterated the centrality of peace to any meaningful development. He called on Muslims and Christians alike to live together in harmony and underscored the importance of youth empowerment in preventing social disorder.

Dignitaries from various political, religious, and business sectors attended the occasion, all commending Governor Mutfwang’s relentless efforts in promoting peace and driving development across Plateau State.

The gathering reflected a united front in the quest for a peaceful Plateau State, with all speakers underscoring the significance of grassroots involvement in ensuring long-lasting harmony.
