The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has reaffirmed the commitment of the legislature to initiatives that will promote development and positively project Plateau State.

He made this known while receiving the National President of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria (AMP), Amb. Dr. Queen Blessing Ebigieson, during a courtesy visit to the Assembly Complex in Jos..
The Speaker said the Plateau State House of Assembly remains open to partnerships and programmes capable of stimulating economic growth and improving the state’s image through the creative industry.
He noted that the film and creative sector holds strong potential for youth empowerment, innovation, and enterprise development across the state.
Rt. Hon. Daniel described Caleb Mutfwang as a listening and youth-friendly leader who supports initiatives that create opportunities for young people.
He stressed that Plateau people must take responsibility for telling their own stories, noting that film remains a strategic tool for correcting negative narratives and showcasing the state’s cultural heritage.
The Speaker also encouraged filmmakers to explore community cinema initiatives to deepen grassroots engagement and strengthen cultural identity.
He assured the movie producers that the Assembly would explore possible areas of legislative and institutional support for the creative sector.

Earlier, Amb. Dr. Ebigieson said her visit formed part of a nationwide tour to strengthen collaboration with governments at all levels.
She explained that the goal of the engagement is to empower young people through the creative industry and expand opportunities in film production.
The AMP president noted that Plateau State’s tourism assets and natural landscapes make it a suitable destination for film production and creative investments.
She appealed for government backing and institutional collaboration to revive film activities in the state, saying this would help project Plateau positively, attract filmmakers, and create sustainable jobs for youths.
Dr. Ebigieson called on the government to support local filmmakers with grants that would enable them to produce positive, value-driven content capable of projecting Plateau State in a favourable light and countering negative narratives about the state.
She further explained that such content is often not purely commercial in nature, making government support necessary to empower producers to tell impactful stories that promote Plateau State while contributing to its overall development and image.
