Following her visit to Plateau State, where she made a donation of N500 million to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state, former legislator Shehu Sani, who once served as the representative for Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, has made fun of First Lady Remi Tinubu.

The money was given to the IDPs in the state’s Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Jos South, and Bassa local governments by Mrs. Tinubu during her visit to Plateau on Tuesday.

According to the First Lady, the act was “a modest step towards assisting affected families in healing from their wounds, rebuilding their lives, and resettling in their communities.”

The former senator, however, responded on Wednesday by calling the donation nothing more than window dressing because different levels of government continue to ignore the people while making these donations and waiting for another group of people to be killed.

Sani, who expressed his opinions on his X account, said:

“Since 1999 every government has its own share of experience with the killings in Plateau State.

“After the corpses are buried, money is donated to the widows, orphans and the displaced victims, then the wait for the next round of massacre.

“A state richly endowed and uniquely gifted & graced by nature has been successfully turned into a perennial killing field.

“Plateau is paradox of a state blessed with everything and cursed with conflict. The soil of the Plateau can grow any seed but it must grow the seed of peace first,” he wrote.
