Following the court of appeal judgment that sacked 16 Plateau State House of Assembly Lawmakers of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in November, 2023 which set aside the tribunal’s verdict and ruled that The PDP members were not qualified to have contested the election, In a recent development, the sacked 16 PDP lawmakers have approached the court of appeal to have the earlier judgment set aside through the first indigenous Senior Advocate of Nigeria on the Plateau, Chief G.S Pwul (SAN) FCIArb.
Clusterchannel gathered that the March 18 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the 16 candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winners of the vote.
Recall that the Supreme Court had in the case of Barr. Mutfwang Caleb Manasseh held that the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal lacks jurisdiction to hear and determine issues bordering on nomination and sponsorship and upturned the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal.
