A cleric with the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has publicly reflected on his past involvement in a bank robbery that took place in 1980 in Jos, Plateau State, describing it as a turning point that later led to a personal transformation.

Rev. Dachomo made the disclosure during a recent interview with a foreign media outlet, where he recounted events from his early life prior to becoming a Christian leader.

According to the cleric, he was part of a group that carried out a bank robbery in Jos, making away with a significant amount of money. He noted that the operation was led by a close associate at the time.

The cleric admitted his involvement, stating, “Because I went in 1980, it was our gang that robbed a bank in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. 1980, they made away with a lot of money. It was my best friend that led the operation.”

Rev. Dachomo, however, emphasized that his life took a dramatic turn following what he described as a spiritual encounter that led him away from crime.

“He came to my room while I was sleeping. I didn’t know that I was operating with 14 demons until Jesus encountered me,” he said while narrating the experience.

He further described the encounter as a moment of intense spiritual struggle, which he believes marked the beginning of his transformation.

“That night there was war. He came with seven angels. I was just an observer, seeing the drama that is being done in my life. Jesus ordered the seven angels to strike the enemy,” he added.

The cleric continued, “In fact, they were killed instantly. I took the covers of those images that were killed and I covered myself as if I’m dead. But the master Jesus said there was somebody that we had not killed.”

Recounting the climax of the experience, he said, “Go, fish him out. When they were coming, booting other corpses, then I had to stand up and began to beg. I was asking for forgiveness. Forgive me, forgive me. I will never do that again.”

Rev. Dachomo explained that the experience led him to abandon his former lifestyle and embrace a new path of faith and service.

According to him, the encounter broke several negative habits in his life, including smoking, which he said he could no longer continue after that moment.

“The encounter marked a turning point in my life. I didn’t know that I would come and encounter God and God really helped me,” he stated.

He added, “That day that I encountered Jesus, I went outside. I tried my best to smoke a cigarette or cool it. The power of smoking was broken in my life.”

The cleric noted that his past experiences now serve as a testimony of change, which he shares to inspire others about the possibility of personal transformation.
