Hon. Pharm. Chun Ezekiel John has reiterated his commitment to people-centered leadership, emphasizing that true representation must be anchored on service, integrity, and tangible impact on the lives of citizens.
He made this known during an interview with newsmen in Jos, where he outlined his vision for the Barkin Ladi–Riyom Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chun, who has continued to attract widespread grassroots support, is widely regarded by many in the constituency as a leader who has consistently demonstrated capacity through empowerment initiatives and humanitarian interventions, despite not holding any elective position.
“I stand for the position of House of Representatives to represent the good people of Barkin Ladi–Riyom, and I am committed to offering purposeful and effective representation,” he said.
Over the years, the aspirant has built a reputation for supporting youths, women, and the elderly through various initiatives, including skills development, financial assistance, and community-based interventions, earning him strong acceptance across wards in the constituency.
Observers note that his consistent presence during critical moments, particularly in times of insecurity and hardship, has further strengthened his connection with the grassroots and positioned him as a responsive and accessible leader.
Addressing the state of representation, Chun expressed concern that the constituency currently lacks a strong and effective voice at the National Assembly, a gap he pledged to bridge if given the opportunity.
“This constituency has remained largely voiceless, and that is something I am determined to change by ensuring that the concerns of our people are heard and addressed,” he stated.
He also highlighted the urgent need to tackle insecurity, describing the situation as unacceptable, while stressing his readiness to contribute to policy-driven solutions that will restore peace and stability.
Beyond security, Chun outlined plans to drive economic growth through youth empowerment, entrepreneurship support, and job creation, noting that many young people only require guidance, mentorship, and access to resources to succeed.
He further assured that vulnerable groups, including the elderly and the sick, would not be neglected, pledging to facilitate access to healthcare support and social interventions that will improve their quality of life.
“Representation is not a business; it is a service to the people, and it must be driven by sincerity, accountability, and a genuine desire to uplift the constituency,” he added.
He called on residents to remain united and committed to a shared vision of progress, assuring that his leadership would prioritize inclusiveness, development, and the protection of the people’s interests at all times.
