Rainstorms in numerous communities within Plateau State’s Jos South Local Government Area have damaged over fifty homes and businesses.
Locals reported that the rainfall, which began on Saturday night and continued for almost three hours, was followed by a strong windstorm that destroyed several homes’ roofs and forced many people to flee their homes.
Information surfaced that certain structures within the state capital of Jos, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Barracks, had also sustained damage.
A local government area resident, identified as Ropshak Shanlang, who lives in the Gwarandok part of the LGA, told our correspondent in Jos on Sunday that the event had left the majority of the affected villages’ citizens stranded and confused.
He said that several houses in the LGA’s Anglu Jos and Abattoir neighborhoods had been demolished.
According to Ropshak, “residents have suffered greatly as a result of the recent downpour, as the storm has destroyed building roofs.” Hours of strong wind preceded the downpour, which caused immense damage in its wake.
